Greta Perel grew up in Northwestern Kansas and discovered a passion for persuasion early on through high school speech, debate, and theater. After successfully competing in forensics at Concordia University, Nebraska, she got her PhD in Communication Studies at the University of Kansas, where she taught over 500 students public speaking, social influence, and professional business communication. She also wrote her dissertation on Victorian prostitution, which has provided hours of entertainment at cocktail parties.
